Share your story and inspire other people through Pioneer's Stories of Hope Playwriting Competition

POTATO ON THE GO NEWS FEED (Theater):

Everyone’s a storyteller. Whether it’s a true-to-life experience or a fictional one woven from the imagination, we all love sharing and listening to stories. If you’re a college student and you’ve had one brewing in your head and urging to be told, now’s your chance to bring it to life.

Pioneer, Your Insurance is now giving college students nationwide an opportunity to share their stories through the Stories of Hope Playwriting Competition. Young and aspiring playwrights can submit their original works as one-act plays written in English, Tagalog or Taglish. The stories must convey hope to the audience, whether as a drama, comedy, or even musical.

“This competition aims not just to tell stories, but to uplift others as well,” said Lorenzo Chan, Jr., Pioneer Life President & CEO. “We hope we can do that through the Stories of Hope competition.”

Participants must be 15-24 years old and officially enrolled as college students in the Philippines. Entries should be submitted on or before November 6, 2015. The winner will be announced on December 6, 2015 and will receive a P25,000 cash prize plus insurance coverage from Pioneer. Interested students may visit the official website for other relevant information regarding the competition and submission of entries: www.storieslab.ph.

Len Pozon, Pioneer VP for Marketing, emphasized the importance of the arts to the company. “We at Pioneer have always been inclined towards education and the arts, so it is only appropriate that we open this event to students,” she said. “I’m sure that they have so much to tell and that everyone can learn something from them, too.”

Pioneer is also sponsoring Virgin Labfest 11, along with Tanghalang Pilipino, Cultural Center of the Philippines, and Writer’s Bloc, Inc. Select plays from the festival are currently touring schools to bring the experience to various student bodies.
